A Mayfair landmark since 2003

The Wolseley Piccadilly is a café-restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, set within one of London’s most admired landmark buildings at 160 Piccadilly. Since opening in 2003, we have welcomed guests from breakfast through to late evening, pairing classic European cooking with attentive, unhurried service, a place of glamour and the everyday, where regulars and first-time guests receive the same care.

Our history

Combining British heritage with European grandeur, our building has lived several lives before becoming one of London’s most respected café-restaurants.

A SHOWROOM FOR MOTOR CARS

1921

Wolseley Motors commissioned architect William Curtis Green to design a prestigious car showroom on Piccadilly. Marble pillars, sweeping archways and Venetian and Florentine detailing gave the building its grandeur.

PICCADILLY’S SHINING PEARL

1927

Barclays Bank took over the site, and Green returned to add a banking counter and managers' offices. Today our bar and tea salon. Its elegance earned it a new name: Piccadilly's Shining Pearl.

A GRAND CAFÉ IS BORN

2003

Restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King acquired the building, and David Collins Architects led a sympathetic restoration. In November 2003, The Wolseley Piccadilly opened as what many considered London's first grand café.

DESIGNED TO ENDURE

Today

Green's domed ceiling and monochrome geometric marble floor are still here to admire. More than twenty years on, The Wolseley Piccadilly remains an Art Deco landmark and a much-loved London institution.
